Flying Baton Sheet Music Productions
FBSMP is a contracted sheet-music production service. Depending on the project, work may include proofreading, engraving and typesetting, parts preparation, instrumentation pages, formatting, and other agreed publication-preparation work.
The standard professional production rate is $50 CAD per hour. Each outside-creator job uses its own project timesheet so the work and resulting Production Value are documented clearly.
What we expect
Independent-hosting submissions must be something FBP can confidently place in its catalogue. That includes accurate notation, careful proofreading, sensible score and part formatting, appropriate rights clearance, and professional files and artwork.
FBP also expects hosted sheet music to follow its practical reproduction philosophy: purchasers should be permitted to make a reasonable number of copies for the legitimate needs of the purchasing ensemble.
What creators can expect
FBP aims to make creator agreements understandable, creator statements useful, and royalty structures easy to follow. Publishing does not casually erase a creator’s underlying authorship or ownership; the rights granted to FBP are defined by the applicable written agreement.
Where FBP is the publisher, its established covers, back covers, logos, series presentation, promotional assets, and other FBP-branded publication materials remain part of the FBP publishing identity.
The Flying Baton approach
Flying Baton Publications combines Christian business ethics with practical realism. We want policies that are fair, transparent, and generous where generosity creates little real harm to the business. At the same time, generosity should never depend on vague promises or obligations that a small publisher cannot responsibly keep.
The goal is a relationship in which creators know what FBP is doing, customers receive sensible terms, and good music gets a chance to travel farther than the room it was first written for.
