Flying Baton Publications exists to give our varied catalogue a home of its own. Some works are available through established publishers and retailers, while others may be found through different platforms according to their particular publishing and licensing needs. Rather than asking you to hunt them down, our catalogue brings them together in one place, with information about each work and clear directions to where it can be purchased, downloaded, heard, or read.

Some of our publications are explicitly Christian; others are written for the concert hall, classroom, stage, or general reader. Why “Flying Baton”?

Every name needs a story.

Every name needs a story, and ours began with one of the lesser-known hazards of conducting: the unfortunate meeting between baton and ring-bound score. A baton, caught unexpectedly, has the remarkable ability to cease being a conducting implement and become, however briefly, a projectile and threat to front-row clarinets.

From that occasional flight came Flying Baton Publications—a name that seemed particularly fitting for a home where music was only the beginning. Today, the baton points toward a much wider collection of music and writing, though we remain fond of the happy accident that gave it wings.
